What will happen if I dye my hair back to it's natural colour after using sun in spray?
I lightened my hair from medium brown to medium blonde using John Frieda Go blonder spray. I didn't realise it was permanent and now I am stuck with blonde hair i don't want and i am also getting roots. To have it dyed back at the hairdressers is £55 and I was wondering if a store bought dye like loreal or something would work just as well as it would be a fraction of the price. Any advice would be hugely appreciated as I have never dyed my hair before and am seriously regretting my decision to this time. I'm also off to Uni soon and don't want to go with hair that i'm really unhappy with. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!
You should definitely do a strand test beforehand. All the instructions say to do them, but most people really don't. It's important in your case because the process of going blonder has opened up those hair shafts and made them more porous. That means they'll take the color a bit differently than the hair that hasn't been lightened. You may need to adjust the timing.
I can't really recommend brands because you're in the UK, but I would go with an ashier shade of brown than you usually are to counteract the brassiness of the blonde. And maybe a shade lighter because almost all dyes come out a bit darker than you expect.
